For Parents

Daily Sign In/Sign Out

It is required that parents sign their children in and out, every day, in our Daily Attendance Book.  Parents or a designated adult must accompany their child/ren into and out of the building.  This is to ensure the safety of the children.  A picture ID may be requested at any time from any pick-up person.  All authorized pick up persons need to be at least 16 years of age.  Children are not to sign themselves in or out!!  Failure to comply with this rule will result in contact from the Coordinator to rectify the issue.

Field Trips

Parents will be notified well in advance of all field trips taken while at ABACUS.  We require a signature for general permission for local field trips during the year.  We also require a separate permission for summer and vacation programs.  If you have specific questions regarding field trips please call our main office.

Input to the Program

We continually strive to improve our program to meet our families’ needs.  We encourage all parents to participate in and return our annual family survey.  This helps us to develop our program, set new goals and keep focused on the needs of our participating families.

Parent Information Board

There will be a Parent Information Board inside the entrance to each ABACUS site.  This is the area where the children are to be signed in each morning, and afternoon.  We ask that all parents check the Parent Information Board each day for messages and announcements. There will be general information as well as other information that pertains specifically to your child.

Parent Visitation Policy

Parents are welcome to visit the program at any time during normal operating hours.  We encourage parents to drop by to see the variety of activities that are available for their children.  Because the staff will have responsibilities for supervising groups of children, we ask that the parents who are visiting do not use this time for individual conferences.  If there are any concerns regarding specific children or activities, conferences with staff may be arranged by prior request.  Issues needing immediate attention may be addressed with the program Coordinator.

Any parent wishing to volunteer in the program or stay an extended period of time may contact the Coordinator to arrange a CORI background check.
