ABACUS Parent Survey

Please refer to the following ABACUS procedures for emergency dismissal from school:

No school indicates there is no ABACUS.  Listen for announcements on Radio Stations, TV Stations, and Cable Channels for Attleboro, WPRO Providence 630AM, Boston WBZ 1030AM, Channels 4,5,6,10,12, Educational Access 9 and Local Access 15.

Ex: School will open 60 minutes later.  ABACUS will open 60 minutes later than usual also.
Parents and children are not allowed in the building before the delayed opening time.

If a child normally attends ABACUS on a day when school is dismissed, the child is expected to come to ABACUS until he/she is picked up.  Listen to the above radio stations and if you hear school is canceled, please pick your child/ren up from ABACUS as soon as it is safe for you to do so. 

 We will attempt to call all parents as soon as possible to let you know of early dismissal due to inclement weather.  In the event the buildings are closed due to an emergency, you will be contacted and asked to make arrangements to pick up your child/ren by a designated time (i.e. Hurricane Floyd, December 13, 2007 snow storm). 

 Please note that ABACUS staff cannot authorize a child’s dismissal and transportation by bus.  It is the responsibility of the guardian to call the school and make those arrangements.  After the arrangements have been made, the parent or guardian must then notify ABACUS that their child will not be attending.

 In the event of a dismissal, every effort will be made to contact the primary parent or guardian.  Please keep the ABACUS OFFICE informed of all emergency contact phone number changes.  It is not enough to assume school offices inform ABACUS of these changes.  Ensure your child’s safety and inform us yourself.

Students will report to designated area where attendance will be taken.  Students are to remain with their teacher until the recall is
announced.

In case it is determined that more time is needed to search the building, school buses will be notified and students will be relocated to a designated school or location.  The telephone number of appropriate relocation will be posted on the front door of the school building.
